GoHighLevel vs OwnMyCRM (2026): How I Move a Business Across

I built OwnMyCRM, and part of the job is helping businesses that already run on GoHighLevel decide whether to move and, if they do, move without losing a single contact. This guide is how I do it.
The short version: both are all-in-one platforms for websites, CRM, conversations, calendars, payments and automations. GoHighLevel is the established one. OwnMyCRM is newer, built around AI agents you can drive from Claude or Cursor, and it can import a business straight from a HighLevel sub-account.
What follows is based on how OwnMyCRM works today and on HighLevel's public help articles. Features change on both sides, so check the details your business depends on before you commit.
The short answer
Move to OwnMyCRM if you want one platform you can customize with AI agents, a website built from the business you already have, and you like HighLevel's way of working. OwnMyCRM uses the same names for settings, email services, the phone system and domains, so your team won't be starting from zero.
Stay on HighLevel if you depend on something OwnMyCRM doesn't have yet, if you run a large agency setup you can't pause, or if you're in the middle of a campaign and the risk of change outweighs the gain.
What each one is
Both are all-in-one: a website builder, CRM and pipelines, conversations by email, text and phone, calendars and forms, payments, automations and AI agents. The table below is where the plans line up side by side.
| GoHighLevel | OwnMyCRM | |
|---|---|---|
| Websites | Website and funnel builder | AI builder: describe a change in chat |
| CRM and pipelines | Contacts, pipelines, opportunities | Contacts, pipelines, tasks, custom fields |
| Automations | Workflows with triggers and actions | Automations with triggers, actions and conditions |
| AI and agents | Built-in AI agents and Voice AI | AI agents, Voice AI, and MCP for Claude and Cursor |
I don't quote HighLevel's prices here, because they change and depend on the plan and the add-ons. Take your own current invoice, including what you spend on email and phone, and compare it with OwnMyCRM before you decide.
One catch to check: usage. HighLevel charges email and phone from a wallet (LC Email and LC Phone). In OwnMyCRM you choose as well, either our shared services or your own Mailgun and Twilio accounts. Look at a few months of real usage, not just the headline plan price.
Email, phone and domains: where a move gets stuck
The fiddly parts of any move sit outside the CRM: email deliverability, phone numbers and domains. OwnMyCRM follows HighLevel's model, so the screens will feel familiar: Email Services, Phone System and Domains, with the same wording.
| Email, phone and domains | GoHighLevel | OwnMyCRM |
|---|---|---|
| Settings names | Email Services, Phone System, Domains | The same names and layout |
| Email sending | Shared domain (LC Email), or your own service | Our shared address, or your own Mailgun |
| Phone numbers | LC Phone, or your own Twilio | Ours, or your own Twilio |
| Dedicated sending domain | Add a domain, then verify DNS records | The same: add a domain, then verify records |
| Voice AI | Answers directly or as a backup | The same two behaviours, set on the number |
| Usage and billing | Charged from a wallet | A Usage page with monthly limits |
Work it through before you start: list every sending domain, every phone number and every connected domain, then decide for each one whether to use OwnMyCRM's shared service or keep your own Mailgun and Twilio accounts. Bringing your own keeps your sender reputation and your numbers exactly where they are.
The line to watch is sending reputation. A new address on a shared domain starts with a small daily allowance that grows over the first weeks, so don't point a big campaign at it on day one.
The builder and the AI: this is the real difference
A website in OwnMyCRM starts from your business. You connect your HighLevel sub-account, the business is imported, and a website is built from it and goes live on its own address. After that you change it by chatting: add a testimonials section, remove the pricing page, and watch the preview update.
You can also connect Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Cursor over MCP, which gets the same tools as the built-in chat. That's what I mean by an AI-agent-ready CRM: it's built to be customized by agents, not only clicked through.
HighLevel's builder and community are more established. If your team lives in drag-and-drop and relies on a large template catalogue, that familiarity has real value, and you should count it.
Contacts, conversations and automations
The things you can't lose are contacts, pipelines, conversation history and the automations that run your business. OwnMyCRM covers contacts and pipelines, conversations, calendars and forms, automations and payments. Import first, then rebuild the automations one at a time, because that's where your own logic lives.
OwnMyCRM also covers the agency side: sub-accounts, team permissions and white-labelling under your own brand, colours and domain. Compare it with what your agency actually uses day to day, not with a feature list.
Integrations
HighLevel has a long list of integrations. OwnMyCRM connects HighLevel itself while you move over, Facebook lead ads, Google Calendar and Sheets, and API keys with permissions for anything else.
If one integration is the thing your business can't run without, check it before you move, not after.
SEO and content
Both can rank a site, so a move is mostly about not losing what you already have: page titles and descriptions, clean URLs and redirects. Keep your domain, and redirect every old address to its new one.
A move is also a chance to improve. OwnMyCRM's builder writes from your brand: it learns your voice from your website, YouTube channel and guides, which gives you a better first draft of pages than a blank editor.
Who should move to OwnMyCRM
- You want to change the site and the CRM by describing what you want, not by clicking through menus.
- You use Claude, Cursor or another coding agent and want it to work on your CRM through MCP.
- You like HighLevel's way of working and want the same names and layout.
- You're an agency that wants client accounts under your own brand, colours and domain.
- You want a website generated from the business you already have in HighLevel.
- You'd like to talk to the person who built it.
Who should stay on HighLevel
- A feature or integration you depend on isn't in OwnMyCRM yet.
- You're in the middle of a campaign or launch and can't afford the disruption.
- Your team is trained on HighLevel and has no time to relearn.
- You run a large agency setup with many sub-accounts that you can't move in one go.
- Your automations are complex and need weeks of careful rebuilding first.
- You have a contract with HighLevel that you can't leave yet.
How I run a move, step by step
I start by connecting the HighLevel sub-account and importing the business. Then I check the imported brand with the owner, pick the new address and launch the site. Only after that do I rebuild automations one by one, running both systems side by side until the new one has earned trust.
Moving between them
HighLevel keeps working while you move, so there's no deadline. Connect the sub-account, import, check everything in OwnMyCRM, then switch your domain and sending when you're happy. Keep HighLevel running for a few weeks as a safety net, then cancel.
Questions people ask
Is OwnMyCRM an alternative to HighLevel?
Yes. OwnMyCRM combines CRM, marketing, automation, websites, AI agents, payments and agency tools in one platform.
Can I import my business from HighLevel?
Yes. You connect your HighLevel sub-account and the business is imported, then a website is built from it. HighLevel stays connected while you move over.
Will I lose contacts or conversations if I move?
Not if you import first and keep HighLevel running until you've checked everything. Don't cancel until you've compared what's in each system.
Can I keep my own email and phone accounts?
Yes. As in HighLevel, you choose: use OwnMyCRM's email and phone services, or bring your own Mailgun and Twilio accounts.
Can I use Claude or Cursor with it?
Yes. Connect Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Cursor over MCP and they get the same tools as the built-in chat.
Do I need a developer to move?
Not for a simple setup, because the import does most of the work. If you have many automations and sub-accounts to rebuild, I can help.
